Brian Mason (left) served in the Vermont National Guard from Sept 1987-Dec 2006 with the Lyndonville Detachment, then from Jan 2006-Nov 2011 with the Windsor Detachment. From Jan 2010-Jan 2011, he served in Kabul, Afghanistan. He also did rescue operations during Hurricane Irene in Aug 2011.
Joe Brandl (center) enlisted in the US Navy from January 1968 to January 1972 and served as an Aircrew Survival Equipment Technician 3rd class. He was a two- time member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, USS Constellation, and USS Enterprise. Joe served time in DaNang Air Base as part of a detachment from the Enterprise and spent 4 months in a Naval Hospital due to a parachuting accident. Joe says, "The worst part of my enlistment was the grief and insults directed towards me when I returned to the US."
Martin Petzhold (right) was stationed on the USS Parche from 1983-1987 during the Cold War. It was a "Special Operations" Sub stationed at Mare Island Naval Shipyard during his tour. Operations are kept secret due to Security. The only port he got to see was a one day dock at Pearl Harbor to get parts needed for an underway repair.
Gary Puffer was a fireman on the USS Nashville LPD-13, a troop transport based out of Norfolk, VA. He made cruises to Barbados, the Caribbean and Mediterranean parts of the Middle East. Click the picture for a bigger story.
It was our honor to give a NH Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing License to Scott Hermsdorf today. We met him at Wildlife and Taxidermy, where Bill the Archery department pro was able to thank him for his service as we bought his licenses. Scott also got a bag full of great fishing gear compliments of Reynold's Marine and Northern Bass Tournaments. He promises some photos when he takes his niece fishing!
Scott's mom, Ginny, originally contacted us and requested our help for Scott. This family has a long and proud history of service to the USA and it is our privilege to get Scott outside this year!
James Spillane, founder of NHVSF, is seen here donating to Kaila Currier and Ray Parkhurst from Hunt for Freedom, another group that benefits veterans and helps them get into the outdoors.
James Spillane spent time on Sunday visiting with Ray Parkhurst and Kaila Currier of Hunt For Freedom, and got to meet Chad Hartford and Kristopher Kuffel. Chad and Kristopher are both veterans who will be hunting with the Hunt For Freedom team, and they have received their NH Hunting Licenses through a donation by the New Hampshire Veteran Sportsman Foundation!

Today James was pleased to present veteran Jeffrey Brown with a free saltwater and freshwater fishing licenses on behalf of the New Hampshire Veteran Sportsman Foundation. "Not long ago, Jeffrey was homeless", said James. "But he's come so far and I told him New Hampshire cares. And we want him to get outside with his son and go fishing and focus on what really matters in life. We hope he will send us some photos of his success soon."
The New Hampshire Veteran Sportsman Foundation is happy to present Veteran Daniel R. English with a salt and freshwater fishing license. Representative James Spillane presented the license today, in time for the long weekend, with the assistance of his daughter Erin.
